Our artist Züleyha Esmerer completed her undergraduate education at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in the major of ‘Fashion and Textile Design’. She decided to establish the brand/Mara Concept by combining her talent with the education and vision she received, and her first collection, the “Secret Language” Collection, was put on sale in November 2019. Our artist, who has been very interested in the Impressionist movement, impressionist painters, the naive culture of the Ottoman Empire and naive Ottoman women since her university years, has conveyed the magnificence and soft colors of nature to you using the power of oil paint brush strokes while searching for the ‘New’ in her designs and continues to do so. Our artist, who avoids clear expressions in her designs, provides her works that resemble ‘a dream frame’ by using plenty of brush strokes. The name ‘MARA’, which best fits our Manifesto, which is the basis of our brand identity, emerged with the inspiration we received from our artist’s stepmother MARA Hatun, who made great efforts in the upbringing of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han, whom she admired. Mara means ‘clean, proper’ in Hebrew. In defiance of the digitalized world, each Mara product promises a look that will make you feel unique, as it is produced with precious materials and precision, with patterns formed by brush strokes. Mara continues to be indispensable for women who are original, self-confident, and who love aesthetics and elegance. We are proud to be the first brand in Turkey to transfer from canvas to fabric with the Oil Painting technique.
Our collections were born with the following inspiration;
Flowers and Their Secret Languages According to Avanzade Mehmet Süleyman's narration in 1912, the story of the language of flowers began in Damascus. A poor young man and the pasha's daughter in the same city fell in love with an impossible love. When the young lovers were forced to separate, they began to communicate with each other only with flowers, without speaking. The poor young man would constantly pass by his beloved's garden like a traveler, and every time he passed, he would pick up various bouquets of flowers from the pasha's daughter's garden and continue on his way. This is how this language began to form. In the Ottoman Empire, when there was no opportunity to meet or when special messages were wanted, each flower was loaded with a meaning, a feeling. Without the need for words, subtle thoughts and feelings were conveyed to the other party in an elegant way. From these, very naive stories and a very rich literary world were formed. We have processed the secret world of these flowers in our collection. We have addressed you with the language of flowers. We have combined the perfection of images with pure feelings. We have kneaded beautiful feelings with beautiful images and presented them to you. In each of our scarf and shawl patterns, we have brought together flowers that carry different positive energy meanings with our patterns in a modern way. Mara Concept believes in the inseparability of art and design and adds each of its patterns to its collections by blending them with an artistic understanding.
